Furniture made from F1 cars! Celebrate the year Lewis Hamilton claimed his fifth FIA Formula One World Championship, with this exquisite, hand-crafted table, made using a real brake disc taken from his 2018 race car.
Driving for Mercedes in 2018, his sixth season with the Silver Arrows, Lewis claimed 11 race victories behind the wheel of the W09 EQ Power+. Becoming a five-time World Champion and putting himself even higher up the leader board of World Champions, the 2018 season was another historic year for the Brit.
This brake disc was used on his 2018 race car, and now has been crafted into a sleek table, giving fans of the Champion the chance to house a touch of action in their homes. Brake discs reach temperatures of 1000 degrees Celsius in a single braking zone and each race presents different challenges for the brakes – from full throttle into heavy braking zones at the Canadian GP, to the undulations of height at the Austrian GP. They take up to six months to produce, in a careful process of compressing and baking the carbon fibre and they weigh just over 1kg.
The oak table top is cut from a piece of solid oak and is perfectly shaped to fit the carbon brake disc. Polished with refined Danish oil and inset with the official Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team plaque, the oak table is fitted with a toughened glass tabletop to protect the original racing heritage.
